Even though Rhode Island is enclosed by states that lawfully acknowledge gay couples, but Rhode Island gays have yet to achieve that respectability. Two associations namely RI Pride and Youth Pride offer assistance, encouragement and education to the Rhode Island gays. The current legal incapability of the Rhode Island gays to wed demonstrates how a key social practice remains inaccessible.

Rhode Island Democrats are up in arms against the bill allowing gay marriages. In order to bring the bill into effect the Rhode Island gays will have to continue their battle.
