South Carolina Gay

January 29th 2010

The number of South Carolina Gay people has been rising consistently and they have been working together to help each other in times of need. The escalation of their population has prompted the need for legislation to legalize the status of the South Carolina Gays.

This move, in the form of the Federal Marriage Amendment, has been doing the rounds in the U.S. House and Senate for two years without any result. The amendment seeks to provide the South Carolina Gays and their families with legal recognition consisting of family rights and responsibilities as are being enjoyed by other families in South Carolina. However, the present laws only recognize the marriage of a man and a woman and irrespective of the number of years that South Carolina Gay families might have lived together and regardless of the number of children that they might have raised together, they are denied any legal recognition.

If this amendment is not cleared by the U.S. House and Senate, the South Carolina’s gays – and their children will be relegated to a life of second-class citizenship.

In an effort to look after the rights and needs of the South Carolina Gays, the South Carolina lesbian community has joined hands with the South Carolina Gays community and has formed the non-profit organization South Carolina Gay and Lesbian business Guild.

The annual South Carolina Pride March and Rally is organized by the South Carolina Gay community in association with the South Carolina Gay and Lesbian Pride March. The South Carolina Gays are fighting for their human rights and hate crimes legislation in the State House by educating and giving information to the general public and other organizations. Many social activities are organized by the South Carolina Gay community to support the youth. It also works untiringly towards raising funds and helping other gays in obtaining their rights.
